New Features in Version 1.1.3

We have some new improvements to share! We have made a video talking about the key points here:
http://www.screencast.com/t/cfyfmwvq2v but further explain the details of this update in the words below.

Wish List Improvements

A common issue outstanding in various themes with Bigcommerce is the 'Add to Wishlist' feature. This feature in most themes is likely working, but not functioning 100%. To explain this we have to extrapolate our thoughts a bit and imagine what happens when your customers have
multiple wish lists. If a customer wants to add a particular product to wishlist A, the need an interface in which to do so.

By default Bigcommerce does have a Panel called "SideProductAddToWishList.html" which has this correct interface, however as the theme environments have changed over the years, most product pages don't have a side bar, and the Bigcommerce templates started to just see a static 'Add to wishlist' button.

We have solved this problem altogether by providing a modern and fully styled solution to this add-to-wishlist feature.

My Account Quick Links Added

In version 1.1 we released a pretty cool feature that will test against the user log in state and grab a securely exposed email address (run it through an md5 hash) then check to see if the user has an associated gravatar image. This gave the whole goodvibes theme a unique feel for the customers as they could see their first name and photo after they logged into the website.

Previously the pull down section for this was a simple 'sign out' button, but we have expanded on this even further to allow a full range of account menu items to show in this area. Check it out!

Various Updates & Bug Fixes

In addition to these new features we were able to solve some minor aesthetic issues for the site and have listed a general list of commit messages below for anyone who wants this information:

updates forgot password page to have breadcrumb in correct location

update styles.css to set max-width on "list view" products to undo previous responsive update made to category list

updates styles.css making product grid not cut off images (properly resize) them on ipad

update cd-scripts to not inject html for signout button on user logged in dropdown, extract that information to TopMenu Panel and show/hide with css

add new panel that holds account links for both side account menu and top menu account pulldown on login

adds margin bottom to top add to cart button in my cart preview pull down

add some in-template javascript to handle the show/hide of the add to wishlist button

add edit warning to styles.css

Upcoming Changes

These changes have been sent to Bigcommerce for official release so we should be seeing this version hit the stores in 4-5 days.

We are also currently working on tying in the
style editor to the theme so Goodvibes users can modify different aspects of the theme design like colors, fonts, and a few other things.

Thank you to everyone and your patience with us as we progress this theme.

	Enjoy Goodvibes!

First off is our production workflow.

We have recently coordinated with Bigcommerce to improve the way we make updates to our theme. Version control has been a part of Cart Designers for several years now, as we strive for ultimate posterity in all of our programming related work. However, with advances made by Bigcommerce, any one of our developers or even outside sources are now able to commit pull requests to an official repository that will trigger a theme update.

This process is working towards full automation meaning bug fixes and feature updates made today could be available for integration on your theme tomorrow. This technology is not new, but is extremely powerful when managing such a large codebase such as an e-commerce theme.

All of this is still complicated due to the lack of local environments because after all we are building on top of a SaaS, but these are giant leaps in the right direction.

v1.1 Release Notes

Version 1.1 is verbose in bug fixes and feature updates alike, and you can expect smaller / faster updates in the future. It has taken some time to get settled in fully. From the launch of the original theme here is a list of updates we have made along the way. These are listed in chronological order dating back to February 27th.

updated slide-show css to center image if only one slide is shown.

updated CartContent tax row to span columns correctly

replaced hard coded footer information with global variables

updated goodvibes config to not include hardcoded cartdesigners values

updated tweetsType to search and to use Store Name as search query

updated address to simply be true as the footer now includes a global variable

updated email to be a blank string in config file as user will have to manually fill this information in.

resolve clearing bug with comparison table in firefox

updated hero slide-show to be more responsive friendly

made category list view "<li>" extend 100% across the UL

sexy search is now appended to body instead of html to avoid problems in IE

updated bg color of tweets to resolve glitching

update SitemapContent panel to have correct heading

update checkout express page 1st step to have 2 columns

search results are now prepended instead of appended

resolved bug with quickview not updating price change rules

major overhaul of responsive styles for category grid and click/hover events on mobile devices

updated email line in footer to be 100% instead of set width

updated cart content pulldown in header to be overflow auto instead of set height and overflow hidden.

fixed cart item availability wrapping issue

force width 100% on left category menu items

added breadcrumbs to gift certificate pages

added gift certificates to top menu

updated quickview to have product image correct width and price on its own row

added sign-out state to header and gravatar functionality with username showing when logged in

updated glypicon size for user sign-in / sign-out dropdown

update compare feature to show/hide based on bigcommerce backend setting properly

set max width and height for subcat images to 100% to protect against overflowing the container

ProductAddToCart.html edited to properly style out of stock message.

styled button row of gift wrapping modal window popup

updated cd-scripts function that pulls in product images for the cart pulldown. updated the images to use https because in instances of products with videos on the product page it was pulling the video thumbnail and disrupting the SSL lock

updated product.attributes.css to style three-tone swatches correctly

These are most of the updates performed for this round. We are already starting on version 1.2 which should include many more updates that will help you all sell more.

Thank you so much.

I can't tell you how much we appreciate everyone who has purchased, looked into, or contacted us about Goodvibes. We are not perfect at this yet but we are working diligently to provide better support, more bug fixes, and feature updates every week.
